Today on my blog I am sharing my book review of the second book in the Jane Tennison series by Lynda La Plante “ Hidden Killers “ as part of the #TeamTennison book reviewers.

BOOK BLURB

When WPC Jane Tennison is promoted to the role of Detective Constable in London’s Bow Street CID, she is immediately conflicted. While her more experienced colleagues move on swiftly from one criminal case to another, Jane is often left doubting their methods and findings. As she becomes inextricably involved in a multiple rape case, Jane must put her life at risk in her search for answers.

Will she toe the line, or endanger her position by seeking the truth?

BOOK REVIEW

As she navigates life following her last case Jane Tennison finds herself playing a decoy trying to lure out a dangerous attacker. An attacker who has attacked and possibly raped young women, the burden rests on Jane and the team to catch and detain the culprit. After the arrest of the man in question, Jane has her doubts as to his guilt over the rape case but before she can follow her instincts she is given a promotion. At her new posting she is taken to a suspected natural death, a young mother is found dead in her bathtub, her child asleep in her crib. The placement of the body in the bath has Jane’s gut tingling and it’s not long before she is convinced the death was murder. Balancing her role in both of the investigations Jane must follow her instincts and bring to justice not only one murderer but two.

In this outing with Jane Tennison we find her promoted and working a murder case. As she struggles to find her place in a male dominated workplace we see a new stronger , resolute character emerging. A character with grit who is not afraid to stand on toes if it’s the right thing to do. A seeker of the truth , a friend to those in need and an excellent police officer in the making. The story starts of slow with the tension bubbling to a boiling point, releasing the pressure only after the last word has been read. The crafting of the characters is superb and the interaction created between them has you transfixed as you rush to discover their next step, their next challenge the next part of the investigation. Follow in the footsteps of the trailblazer that is Jane Tennison, book by book as she hones her skills and fights her way to the top of the police ladder. Read each book and follow police procedures as they change year after year told in detail by the author.

I look forward to reading the next book of Jane’s crime fighting career.

My thanks to Tracy Fenton and the team at Zaffre Books for my copy of the books and the chance to be part of #Team Tennison
