BOOK BLURB

DI Kate Young’s team is hunting for a killer. What they don’t know…is that the killer is her.

DI Kate Young has known for years that her boss, Superintendent John Dickson, is a violent and evil man. But when she finally confronts him and accidentally shoots and kills him, she’s forced to cover her tracks before anyone can pin his death on her. With revelations about his corruption soon to become public knowledge, Kate sets up a trail of evidence to make it seem that Dickson has conveniently vanished…

But Kate knows the corruption doesn’t end with Dickson. As she heads up the team investigating his supposed disappearance, she also pursues other loose ends. Stanka, the sex worker who supplied the evidence against Dickson, leads her to crucial information on another corrupt officer, DI Harriet Khatri, and her dubious involvement with sex traffickers.

As the noose starts to tighten on Kate, she finds herself targeted by traffickers, the bent cops on her force and even her own team of detectives. Can she stay one step ahead of them all and bring Harriet to justice? Can she trust anyone around her? And can she possibly get away with murder?

BOOK REVIEW

Finally Kate has the evidence or at least enough of what she needs to confront the man she believes is responsible for the death of her husband. Arranging to meet him at night near a reservoir she hopes to get him to confess to all his crimes and bring him to justice. Unfortunately for Kate things don’t go to plan and she finds herself as a killer. Covering her tracks with the help of an old friend she has to not only run the investigation into the “disappearance “ of the man but keep her team at arms length. Of course the investigation is made more difficult for her as the man in question was her Superintendent John Dickson. Who can she trust with her secret and should she even tell anyone or even continue her investigation into those who were part of her Superintendent circle of confidants. All she can do is hope that she is not caught and that her husband can now rest in peace.

A book that really needs to be read in order of the series to enable the reader to fully enjoy the suspense and thrills. In this book we catch up on the cliffhanger of the last book that finds Kate facing up to Dickson and demanding the truth of her husband’s death. The book then throws up so a fabulous twist in making Kate a killer. A killer who has to work the investigation whilst knowing the truth of Dickson disappearance. The book follows Kate as she follows more threads surrounding those that Dickson had in his confidence, as well as the investigation by her team into Dickson mysterious disappearance. As the plots twist and turn through the book the reader is taken on a fast paced police procedural investigation that will leave them on the edge of their seat. A tormented lead character who we the reader feel very invested in and who we are willing on to achieve her goal and ultimately her peace of mind after such a turbulent journey. I would love to see Kate brought to life on TV to breath life into a character I have enjoyed discovering during the course if the books.

My thanks to Zooloos Book Tours for my tour invite and copy of the book. As always they are my own thoughts and opinions on the book.
